Senior Nutrition
Senior Nutrition provides daily noon meals and other resources in a congregate setting for senior citizens aged 60 and over and cooks and coordinates the delivery of meals to qualifying homebound seniors aged 60 and over.

We are currently looking for Senior Nutrition volunteers that are able to commit to a regular schedule (one day per week would be acceptable) for the following locations/times:
Locations: Bakersfield, Delano, Lake Isabella, Ridgecrest, Shafter, Rosamond, Taft, Tehachapi, Wasco
Days: Mon-Fri
Times: Early morning, mid-morning, noon serving time.
Type of Assistance: Food Preparation, Kitchen Help, Outreach

Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP)
HICAP provides free assistance with Medicare problems and other health insurance issues for seniors and disabled adults.
We are currently looking for volunteers that are able to commit to a regular schedule and are interested in becoming HICAP Counselors, or assisting with other related duties (one day per week would be acceptable).
HICAP Counselors are needed in the following locations: Lake Isabella, McFarland, Ridgecrest

Volunteer Senior Outreach Program (VSOP)
The outreach program provides socialization and stimulation to individuals that are isolated and alone in Bakersfield and in the remote areas of Kern County. The program utilizes community volunteers to make regular contact with this specific population and act as advocates on their behalf.
We are currently looking for volunteers with the following characteristics:
- Compassion for Older Adults
- Willingness to Serve
- Available to Make the Commitment
- Active Listener
- Ability to Express Empathy
- Willingness to Learn New Skills
VSOP volunteers are needed in the following locations: Bakersfield, Kern River Valley, Tehachapi, Wasco/Shafter

Kern Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program
Residents in long-term care facilities may have limited contact with the outside world, which can lead them to feel a lack of control over their lives. A volunteer long-term care ombudsman who visits regularly can brighten a resident's day and ensure they receive good care.
We are seeking individuals passionate about helping others and willing to learn. We require your assistance to enhance the quality of care and life for residents of long-term care facilities in Kern County. We provide training, tools, and ongoing support.
